Assigning Courses to Students That Were Not in Your Previously Created Class
Learn how to assign courses to students who were not part of your original class
If you created a Clever or ClassLink‑integrated class and are reusing that same class for a new semester, you may have new students who did not roster into your class automatically. Since SSO classes are controlled by your district’s rostering system, any new or transfer students cannot be manually added to an existing SSO class.
What To Do for New Students
If a new student joins your class after the roster was created, the best option is to create a custom (non‑SSO) class for that student. This allows the student to access the correct course content without waiting for your district to update your official roster.
How This Works
- Your existing Clever/ClassLink class will remain rostered and continue to sync with your district
- New or unrostered students can be placed in a separate custom class that you create manually
- These students will be able to work through the same course content even though they are not tied to your original SSO class
This approach ensures all students—whether rostered or newly added—can begin learning right away.
