Lock/Unlock Courses
Have more control over your courses. Learn about the ability to lock and unlock.
Teachers have more control over their courses with a lock and unlock toggle.
Note: This feature locks the course, not individual classes, so by locking the course, you are locking all classes within that course. For example: If I lock the 306: Black History course, I am locking 306: Black History Period 1 and 306: Black History Period 2 (all classes within that course).
What does this mean?
If a course(s) is unlocked (which is the courses' default status) students will see the course(s) on their dashboard and you will be able to see the course(s) Gradebook for that course.
If a course(s) is locked, students will not see the course on their student dashboard, and you will not see a Gradebook for that course.
If you have a course unlocked and then you lock it, students will then not see their course(s) on their dashboard, and you will not see the course in the Gradebook. If you toggle the course(s) to unlocked, students will be able to pick up where they left off in the course(s), and all student progress will be restored in the Gradebook.
Here are the places where you can lock and unlock courses:
When you are creating a class, you will see the locked/unlocked toggle for the courses you select:
The lock/unlock toggle will also appear when you add a course to an existing class:
You will know a course is locked because it will have a lock to the far left of the course:
You can make edits to this toggle this feature on and off by navigating to Edit Class under the course tile you would like to edit from the My Courses tab.
