Why second‑semester setup matters for SSO teachers
If your school uses Clever or ClassLink, student rosters are managed through your district’s student information system (SIS).
As the second semester approaches, creating new classes tied to your second‑semester sections helps ensure:
- Your student roster reflects schedule changes
- New students appear correctly
- Students are enrolled in the correct class for the new term
This step is especially important if your sections change between semesters or if students join or leave mid‑year.
How to set up your second‑semester class
To prepare for the second semester, create a new class using your updated Clever or ClassLink section.
- Go to My Classes
- Select Create Class
- Choose your second‑semester section from the section list
To identify the correct section:
- Look for a term or semester indicator in the section name
Common labels include T1, T2, T3, or S1 and S2 - Some districts include a section ID in parentheses
You can compare this ID to what you see in your SIS, such as Skyward, Infinite Campus, or PowerSchool
- Fill out the class details
- Add the courses you want to assign
- Select Create Class
Repeat this process for each second‑semester section you teach.
What happens when the second semester begins
When the new semester starts:
- Students log in through Clever or ClassLink as usual
- Students tied to your second‑semester section appear automatically after they launch the Everfi app
- No registration codes are required for rostered classes
Your class roster stays in sync with your district’s system.
What to do with your first‑semester classes
Once the first semester ends, those classes are no longer active for instruction.
To keep your dashboard organized, archive your first‑semester classes when they are no longer needed.
Archiving:
- Removes the class from your active dashboard
- Prevents students from returning to courses that are no longer part of the current semester
- Preserves records for reference when needed
Important reminders for SSO teachers
- Second‑semester classes should be created using second‑semester sections, not by reusing first‑semester classes
- Clever or ClassLink sections cannot be changed after a class is created
- If you do not see the correct section, contact your district administrator before creating the class
